Research & Reported
This is an important part of the clubs activities. We have databases for you to report your industrial heritage, so we can build up a picture of the manufactures and technology they produced.
How does this effect me you may ask, as individuals we are islands, as a community a strength. The research, made from individual contributions, adds value to your items as overall a better understanding about it is made. Most of the industrial heritage was thought as worthless, but today we have a great interest in it. The more depth we can obtain about the history of the item the better.
If its hearsay say it, ‘I was told this but could not verify it’ or ‘rumour has it...’. At least this snippet is recorded as such. False history is worthless and it only takes a few enquiries to find this out, so this then puts your industrial heritage in doubt. We are fortunate that we still have people with us that can verify information, so don’t be tempted.
If the history of the item is lost, that's fine, it might be able to be re-established later. But continue to record the history of the item, buyers if there is not a slip of paper with who owned it when, start it now. This allows it to be traced back to this point. If you don’t do this another layer of information will be missing!
If you are in the demolition industry, if in doubt contact us. We can tell you what it is and can arrange somebody to take it out before the bulldozers go in. They will take pictures and diagrams of the set up and record it before its lost altogether.
So the sooner you list your details (which are kept anonymously) then the sooner people doing the research can start to build the picture up about it. This includes people that worked in the industry that might be able to identify the industrial heritage.
The next section is the MeterQuest section which has the details, complemented by the club pages for you to use the free listing service, specialist auctions or other services to help with packing and sending goods.
For those involved in industrial heritage, please accept a warm welcome to any of the free groups we run. To join please click on clubs and open up the world of discovery about this wonderful technology. Please write a few words about what you are interested in and we will approve you. This is just to stop the advertisers/spammers getting in and filling up the post and bloggs with adverts.
