Sellers Guide

The right and proper decision.

I hope you have now read the current page and decided the way forward;

1) Keep the clock in the building.
2) Re site the clock in the building.
3) Put the clock on public display
4) Carefully remove if necessary, record information & package.

There are two main reasons you may wish to sell a turret clock:

1) Have a building with one that's being demolished or synchro-dialed.
2) Bought one and don’t know what to do with it.

If you are the first type, then you could be de-valuing your property. If somebody is buying, say an apartment with a clock in it, its normally because they adore clocks. They will be disappointed to see a little electric motor running it and likely to become your clock-winder for the original clock and if not auto winding can be achieved. Some have to be removed due to demolition orders, but the building that replaces the old one can have on display the old turret clock and bring back, into the new building, the richness of the past. The value this adds is immense, and will make you stand out from the crowd. So they have potential. It may be that you are worried about the noises they make. Good advice is always to communicate, so why not contact us before you embark on a journey that could de-value what you are trying to re-generate. It may be the cost of keeping it going is the fear, or the clock is too hard to get to or see. Don’t assume boundaries that are not there. Its better the clock is repositioned than ripped away from the building it was made for. You could join the ‘Clock-watch, Bell-watch’ project and install a CCTV system.

If its coming out then don’t damage it, it could put your building in danger or damage the clock so it becomes worthless.

If you are the second type and want to give it pride of place in the public domain, why not contact us and we will try and do the donkey work to get you in touch with somebody that can either get it installed as close to the original building or on display in the town. We have collaborative links with a huge amount of people and organisations. If it being sold to release its value, so you can do something else with the funds, fine, but do read on and find out how writing down the snippets of information about it are so important and also how this process can be made easy. The important point is if you are unsure about this decision to sell, then read on and consider the options and paths ahead.

We will assume now that you are considering selling the clock to release funds for you. On the next page you can read about where you can sell, how the information can be packaged and how the item can be. Obviously these are heavy items and care has to be taken to un-install , pack and install them.
