The new project centre. Onamission is currently looking for a historic building that can be used for the new project centre. Here people can visit us and see the ever changing projects and get involved with the buzz that goes with making projects and inventions come to life.
You will also be able to see the two warehouses worth of weird and wonderful industrial heritage we have in storage, ranging from synchronome’s, to turret clocks, to water meters and so much more. We want to share the wonders of the industrial heritage, use the inspiration to drive new projects and to bring to forefront the concept of good design in the context of re-use. To assist this and to show the importance of modeling, both real and simulation, we are developing computer models and scaled models.
This includes some of the magical clocks like Eurekas, Reasons, to a large scale models of a synchronome. We want you to explore the technology and imagine yourself as part of it. The motivation for this is to allow you to ‘get inside’ the technology, and wonder ‘what its like to be say a beam of light, or part of a mechanical system’?
The display area also includes key industry technology. Water board, Electricity, Gas, Telecommunication / radio to the Fishing Industry. As a society we need to understand the systems within it, through education we can make progression of the future.
Here the simplicity of the earlier technology will be used to systematically demonstrate what these organisations do and their role in the community. This systematic approach is then transferable to project areas.
The centre itself main display is the projects themselves, which change and so visiting us always becomes a new and interesting challenge.
